Today, EA Sports announced that there will be two main game modes in FIFA 11 Wii. One will be the traditional 11 vs. 11 style, but the big surprise was the addition of a street-style mode. In the traditional 11 vs. 11, gamers will get to choose from over 30 officially licensed leagues, 500 teams, and more than 15,000 players. In the street mode, things are taken down a bit where games will be 5 on 5, but you’ll still get access to some of the world’s most elite athletes.
Exclusively for the Wii, there will be numerous gameplay enhancements to help really bring the game to life. One example is the all-new attacker vs. defender trick system. Per the official press release it “creates head-to-head battles as you move up the pitch, performing dozens of elaborate new tricks to throw the defender off-balance.” Also, a new button-based shooting mechanic has been implemented to “put control back in the user’s hands.” New shot types will be available along with fresh, new animations to accompany them.
In the street mode, your players will be more relaxed as they play in their “street wear.” Each player will have his own personal playing style as well as unique abilities. Gamers will be able to use their surroundings to help them as well, such as using a wall to jump pass your opponents. There is even an arcade style where you can build up a power meter and then unleash attacks like blast shots, a sudden burst of speed, and more.
Some confirmed locations are Brazil, London, and the streets of France. Also, for the first time on the Wii, gamers can take the game indoors. With the ability to play match types like First to Score, Tug of War, and Timed, FIFA 11 Wii offers a lot of replay value. As the release date gets closer, additional modes and features will be revealed, but for now, this game is looking to be pretty good.
FIFA 11 Wii will be released on October 1st for gamers in Europe and Asia, and on October 4th for those in North America, with no details regarding pre-order bonuses.
