Top Spin 4 Announced - With Totally Radical Pre-Order Bonus

The Persian side of my family has always been deeply into Tennis and Soccer (football, if you’re not American).  When I would visit as a kid, the summer would be full of watching one particular player: Andre Agassi.  In the late 80s/early 90s, even if you didn’t care about tennis, you knew who Andre Agassi was just by seeing his long blonde hair(piece).  He was the man.  And now, with the release of Top Spin 4 from 2K Sports (part of 2K Games), The Man, with his totally radical hair(piece), returns.

Scheduled for release in 2011, Top Spin 4 will be available for all three major consoles (360, PS3, and Wii).  President of Product Development for 2K Sports, Greg Thomas, said, “Top Spin 4 is shaping up to be the most realistic and exhilarating tennis game in the Top Spin franchise.  For this iteration, the development team is focused on delivering a bold new take on the sport of tennis by allowing gamers to experience first-hand an uncanny level of realism in the player and stadium models, authentic audio captured directly from real tennis matches, and all-new innovate controls to dominate the competition.”

From the press release:

In development at 2K Czech, Top Spin 4 brings the competitive action of tennis to life like never before with redesigned controls, jaw-dropping player models and Signature Style animations, enhanced TV-style presentation elements, and one of the deepest player rosters to date featuring tennis’ top athletes and legendary pros. To commemorate the fourth version in the Top Spin series, 2K Sports is offering an exclusive vintage Andre Agassi playable character with pre-orders, details of which will be announced at a later date.

It seems that the Vintage Andre Agassi playable character pre-order bonus will be available through GameStop.  As the game’s drop-date approaches and more details are released, maybe we’ll see that availability expand to multiple retailers.

Either way, I love tennis games (I’m a fucking beast at Virtua Tennis on Dreamcast.  I challenge ANYONE to take me on.), and a vintage Agassi playable character really takes me back to better days.  Hopefully I’ll be in a position to pick up a pre-order for this when the time comes.
