We now have a direction for the sixth season of Weeds. Silas is our voice of reason to counter act Nancy, who is about to snap at any given moment. Andy is the guide for the Botwin, oh wait I’m sorry, the Newman exodus away from Ren Mar. Then there’s Shane…who’s intriguing and bland at the same time. I’ll get into that later, but for now you need to know this: something is going to hit the fan by the end of this season.

After last weeks Season 5 epilogue/Season 6 prologue, the wheels have been fully set into motion. Now known as the Newmans, the Botwin family travels north to escape the problems behind them, the second time Nancy has done this (re: Season 3 finale). But this time, things are different because they have no idea where exactly they’re going and what exactly they’re going to do when they figure out where they’re going, other than lay low.

There’s something else about this season that may ring familiar with Dexter fans: Nancy is going to be chased by multiple people. It’s obvious that Esteban wants to find her, but it’s also curious the way he protects her. Judging by this, we haven’t seen the last of Esteban et al just yet, much to the dismay of many fans.

There is still, however, something bothering me about this season. The preview for the next episode promises the return of Doug Wilson (Kevin Nealon). After some digging up over the internet, Celia Hodes will not be returning at all this season, meaning that if the show wants to return to its roots, it’ll have to do it through Nancy herself. This is both disappointing and intriguing.

Season 6 has a lot going for it so far. Let’s hope it can live up to its expectations.
