The Walking Dead Start Walking On Halloween

In a bit of extraordinarily good timing, it has been revealed via the Hollywood Reporter that AMC’s zombielicious new show The Walking Dead will debut on Halloween.

That’s right friends. On Sunday, October 31st, you will get to fill your braaaiiinnsss with all the delicious zombie action you can handle as the highly anticipated zombie action/drama/horror thingy finally debuts. The 90 minute premier episode will be shown during AMC’s Fearfest, their annual marathon of classic horror movies. Seeing as this is their 14th year of Fearfest AMC is kind enough to provide 14 days of horror fare. Here’s hoping they provide plenty of zombie movies.

The Walking Dead, based on the Image comic series by Robert Kirkman and developed for television by Frank Darabont, centers on Rick Grimes, a small town police officer who suddenly finds himself surviving in the zombie apocalypse. Check out the trailer on Hollywood Reporter to see if Walking Dead is your thing. I would be surprised if it weren’t. I mean, everybody loves zombies, right?

As someone who has been making her zombie contingency plan for years and continuously updating it to account for various types of “zombies” I have to say I’m super excited about this.

You think you’re prepared? I have a Battle Shed. I see Dead Rising as being in the same genre as The Sims. I go to the mall, not to shop or eat pretzels (though Aunt Anne’s is delicious), but to scope out every angle and spot key defense points. In short, I am prepared. Hell, I’ve even got a contingency plan in case the zombies ever learn how to ride raptors. One can never be too prepared after all.

You know, I have to wonder what it says about us when we prepare, almost gleefully, for the end of the world as we know it as it is swept over by waves of the shambling unliving. I have to wonder if it is healthy. And I have to wonder if any of this philosophizing will really matter when some stinking brain sucker is trying to use me like a candy bowl.
