Started in 1979, but finding their signature sound in 1980, the Descendents became a staple of the southern California hardcore punk rock scene, mixing humor in to their fast paced style of musical ass-kicking. By which I mean to say they rocked.
Their debut album, Milo Goes to College, was titled with the future in mind. Shortly after the album was released, the band went on hiatus and lead singer Milo went to college, completing with a PhD in Biochemistry. While Milo was hitting the books, drummer Bill Stevenson was still hitting the drums, for Black Flag.
They returned and eventually settled on a permanent line-up after a few changes, and have been kicking ass ever since.
