What do Elvis Presley, WormsTM , and this faithful reporter have in common? A lot more than you might think…
Exactly 33 years ago today, Elvis Presley was found dead on a toilet. Some people say it was drugs, some say it was the fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Others say it wasn’t Elvis who died but his twin brother, and still others say Elvis isn’t dead and that he is simply a lounge singer in a place called The Domain Of The King Bar & Grill. The popular vote says that the King, sadly, became food for the worms on this day back in 1977.
10 days after that fateful day, exactly 33 years ago, an even more momentous occurrence…uh…occurred. That momentous occurrence was the birth of yours truly. The good folks over at Team17 have apparently decided that the best way to celebrate the more momentous of those two occasions would be to release WormsTM Reloaded. But they’ve decided to celebrate today by giving us a new trailer for the game. A trailer that spotlights one of the most engaging and amusing aspects of the franchise: Customization.
A Landscape Editor, customizable hats, skin tones, voice, and even forts are welcome additions to the myriad of ways to customize your WormsTM Reloaded team. I’ve told you about the WormsTM franchise time and time again so, I won’t beat that worm-ridden horse. But I will remind you that pre-ordering Worms™ Reloaded on Steam will get you a 10% discount, and 24 hours of early access to the game. Worms™ Reloaded launches officially on August 26th. 10 days from today.
I had to learn the hard way that pre-ordering will not make my birthday come any quicker.
Fun fact: a friend of mine was so good at science that in high school he and another friend of mine spent their class periods playing Worms. He even got the teacher in on it once.
Another fun fact: you can’t be allowed to show this customization thing to my friend. It will dominate his life. Also, I need some time to get good at Worms before playing him again, so he can’t know about this yet.
Always kicks my ass at everything…
I’ve been following this since day 1, and I’ve still yet to see anything about an online multiplayer…
