Guns!Razors!Knives! Deftones Bring It Live!

I recently had the privilege of seeing Deftones live in concert for the second time in my short life. My first ever concert was seeing Godsmack with Deftones opening for them in 2001. At that time the only songs I knew were Change (In The House Of Flies) & My Own Summer (Shove It) and that show was my gateway into the ethereal & brutal music of the band. This time I knew every song as I have all their albums.

Now, depending on who you talk to, Deftones live history in past years has been either still great or up and down. Well, let me tell from my experience, the band is on fire. They don’t just go up on stage & play, they command that stage. Chino has never sounded better and the band pulled an impressive selection of songs including “Dai The Flu” which I didn’t even know they still played live.

I was lucky enough to see the band on the house thanks to do some promo for the band via VelvetHammer.com so many, many thanks to Neil O’Connor for the hook up. I had the time of my life and it was great to see the band on top of their game.
They ripped through new songs like “Rocket Skates” “Diamond Eyes” & “You’ve Seen The Butcher” while playing old favorites like “Lotion” “Elite” “Digital Bath” & “Be Quiet & Drive (Far Away)”. The band closed the show with a handful of songs from their debut album “Adrenaline”. If the band is in your town anytime soon, make the effort to see them live. And of course please check out www.oneloveforchi.com.

About Marooners’ Rock

Everyone grows up; this is how the world works. Just because we grow decrepit and old, however, does not mean we have to forsake the things that make us happy, childish though they may seem. This is the core concept of Marooners’ Rock; we geek out on the things of our past, present, and future. Society and cultural norms be damned!
